Volunteering for the Living Positively Project

Living Positively project volunteer

The Living Positively Project offers support in the community and a range of monthly groups to anyone living with HIV in West Sussex, and we are looking for committed and enthusiastic volunteers. As a volunteer you will be fully trained by Terence Higgins Trust and all your travel expenses will be reimbursed. You will also be supported by the project manager and a team of other volunteers.

Depending on your skills, interests and availability volunteers can do the following tasks:

Volunteers should have the ability to deliver services in a non-judgemental and non-discriminatory manner, to build relationships based on excellent communication and active listening skills, be empathetic, have the ability to maintain confidentiality, have a commitment to setting and maintaining appropriate personal and professional boundaries and will be committed to representing the project in a positive and constructive way.

The role would suit someone looking to build up their skills in social and community care, someone looking to gain experience to help get into work or change career, or someone who is committed and passionate about supporting people living with HIV.

There are opportunities across the county, so please get in touch to find out more or to request an application form.

Living Positively voluntary beauty/complementary therapists

The Living Positively project offers a range of monthly support groups to anyone living with HIV in West Sussex and we are looking for volunteers to offer complementary and beauty therapies in a our groups.

Our support groups are great places for people to make friends, relax and learn more about well-being and we would love to be able to offer complementary and beauty therapies to our participants, which is something they request, but unfortunately our funding is unable to cover.

We are looking for a trained or trainee complementary or beauty therapist who would be willing to come in on a monthly (or bi-monthly) basis to offer some short 20 minute treatments to our group members. This would be of enormous benefit to our clients and would also be a draw to encourage new members to join.

As a volunteer you will be fully trained by Terence Higgins Trust, and all your travel expenses (and the cost of any materials you use) will be reimbursed. You will also be supported by the project manager and a team of other volunteers.

The role would suit someone looking to gain experience in working with a range of different people with varying needs and medical conditions. Or someone who would just like to give something back and offer their skills to help enhance people's well-being.

There are opportunities across the county, as we run groups in Worthing, Chichester, Crawley and Littlehampton. so please get in touch to find out more or to request an application form.
